We are Launching a New Dynamic MJF Pricing Structure

Today we are delighted to be announcing a new dynamic pricing structure for our MultiJet Fusion (MJF) service that we will be trialling for three months.

At 3DPRINTUK we always want to be a leading Additive Manufacturing (AM) service provider across the UK and further afield, while also continuing to close the gap between AM and Injection Moulding. To this end, our new pricing structure for Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) will dramatically reduce 3D printed part prices for more than 95% of MJF parts quoted, by up to 20% in most cases.

For us to continue to provide a transparent and more competitive service to our customers, the ongoing challenge is to make each and every build more efficient.

Our pricing has always been based on a number of factors. But over the years — and with the addition of new materials, processes and plans for things to come — the calculations have become more and more complex. Our standard XYZ and Offset pricing models on their own are outdated and no longer enough to evolve our offerings as a service. We have developed an in-house quoting system that optimizes every build and calculates the best possible outcome based on a number of different factors to achieve the best possible price. Now, every online quote will automatically orientate the STL file into the cheapest orientation as well as select the cheapest pricing structure available. The pricing structure chosen will be indicated in the quote above the unit cost.

HP MJF printers will continue to be run on advanced mode to ensure no compromises on quality.

The primary goal for the new MJF pricing strategy is to improve the efficiency of our builds. More efficient builds allow us to both reduce prices as well as speed up lead times for our customers. Our current pricing has resulted in large parts being too cheap and smaller parts being too expensive, resulting in long queues for larger items and inefficient builds. By adding new factors to our unique pricing algorithm, we are able to balance these out and reduce our prices for smaller parts and reduce the lead times for almost all MJF orders. A very small percentage of prices for larger items will go up, but we believe the overall benefits to the customer far outweigh these.

As the original patrons of the transparent pricing structure, it saddens us to make the algorithm harder to for customers to calculate prices remotely, but due to the complexities involved, the severe corporate plagiarism encountered over the years, and the huge benefits to the customer, we believe this is a firm step in the right direction. Prices are often the first and last thing that our customers are looking at. Remaining competitive, without compromising on the quality of parts that we produce is essential and we have put a great deal of work into this new structure to ensure our customers get the best deal. All of 3DPRINTUK’s HP MJF printers will continue to be run on advanced mode to ensure no compromises on quality.

We are planning to run this dynamic pricing structure for 3 months and monitor its performance. If it is as successful as we believe it will be, it will be permanently implemented into our ecosystem.

*SPOILER ALERT* This is just the start — a strong foundation from which we are planning to continue to build our services while putting our clients first. Keep an eye out for some new and exciting plans from us in the near future — with new materials and 3D printing technology on the horizon.
